About

In 1995-1996, I was a senior at Gustavus Adolphus College, majoring in music with honors work in music history and literature. My senior thesis was on John Coltrane. The main purpose of this website is to make that thesis available to the world. The site is also a resource for Coltrane fans and those who are interested in learning more about his music.

These days I make a living as a freelance web consultant, designer and developer, operating under the name Room 34 Creative Services. I designed this website using my Room 34 Baseline WordPress theme as a starting point. This theme is built to HTML 5 standards and relies extensively on the Blueprint CSS framework. The site runs on WordPress, an open source blogging and CMS web application.

    Hello Scott,
My name is Yochai Wolf and I am a sax player and blogger from Israel. I was very impressed by your thesis, and was very moved by it- since JC’s “favorite things” means so much for me. I was wondering if I could get your permission to make a post in my blog describing the developement of Coltrane and “favorite things”, in Hebrew of course, and to adapt your thesis for it. Needless to say that I would credit your work and put a link to the thesis itself.
I’m prettey sure that Israeli jazz/coltrane lovers would love to read your thesis. You can enter my blog in the link above- though you might want to use google translate to read it….

    Cheers,
    Yochai
